A man who died after being struck by a car was “sitting” in the middle of one of Palm Beach County’s busiest roads, the sheriff’s department said.
The man, whose identity has not yet been released pending notification of next-of-kin, was killed Friday, Jan. 10 after he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Military Trail and Woolbright Avenue in Boynton Beach at about 9:36 p.m.
According to an accident report, the driver, William Johnson, 65, of Boynton Beach, was traveling on Military Trail in his 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe when he encountered the pedestrian, a 55-year-old man, in the center lane north of the intersection. In a statement, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said the man – who was declared deceased at the scene – was sitting in the middle lane facing the opposite direction.
The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and called police. No foul play, alcohol or drugs were considered a factor.
